In women’s basketball, The Lady Knights defeated the Nighthawks for the second time of the season  on Feb. 5, by a score of 51-24.

Before this game, the Maywood girls had managed to maintain a 3-game winning streak.

“We played hard, we maintained a good attitude, and we had fun, so in my opinion, we did win that night.” says a varsity player.

Prior to the game, Bravo held their annual celebration of Senior Night for their five graduating students, being thoughtful enough to include the twelve Maywood seniors from the varsity team, that would be graduating in June.

This Wednesday was also National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day.

According to the official Women’s Sports Foundation website, “February 5th marked the 34th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.” This day celebrates the importance of equal opportunities female athletes have acquired in male-dominated sports.

“It was inspiring [playing on National Girls/Women in Sports Day] because… basketball is seen as a sport for boys but girls can also do it, and ten times better,” said a junior varsity player.

Although losing against one of their biggest competitors, the Ladyhawks walked out with their head held high, as they approached their last game of the season, scheduled to take place on February 7th against MaCES.
