The Maywood basketball teams, both girls and boys, and the soccer teams, girls and boys, have made it to the playoffs.

The basketball Ladyhawks play on February 13th, at MACES High School at 3 pm against Dr. Maya Angelou Community. Boys soccer plays the Los Angeles Romans at Maywood Academy High at 3 pm (Feb. 13th). The boys basketball team takes on the Aspire Ollin University Prep Jaguars Friday, February 14th, 3:00 pm at MACES High School. The cost of admission for both the girls and boys basketball games will be $5 with a school ID.

On Wednesday, the MAHS girls soccer team lost their playoff game against Legacy.

This will be the girls basketball team’s fourth year of making it to playoffs in a row, while the boys have made it five consecutive years. Boys soccer has made it to playoffs five years in succession.

“It’s important that they have to be ready physically and mentally but the most important one that a coach cannot teach a person is effort. Effort is the will that has to come from each player, each athlete, because we can teach skill, we can teach technique, but effort has to come from them.” With these words of encouragement from Mr. Serratos, athletic director, the teams are off to their first games.
